Delicious chocolate cookies with a creamy marshmallow frosting and a hint of peppermint.
Ingredients

- ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 large egg yolk, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened Dutch-processed cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 jar (7 oz) marshmallow creme
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- Pinch of salt
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 1 teaspoon neutral oil (optional)
- Finely crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
Instructions
- Make the Cookie Dough
Cream butter and sugars just until smooth.
Mix in egg, egg yolk, vanilla, and peppermint extract.
Whisk dry ingredients separately, then fold into dough.
Gently stir in chocolate chips. - Chill the Dough
Cover and refrigerate for 45–60 minutes. - Bake the Cookies
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Scoop tall mounds onto lined baking sheets.
Bake 12–14 minutes until edges are set. - Cool Completely
Let cookies cool fully before frosting. - Make the Marshmallow Frosting
Beat butter 3 minutes until pale.
Add marshmallow creme and beat 1 minute.
Mix in powdered sugar, vanilla, salt, and cream until fluffy. - Frost and Garnish
Pipe or spread frosting onto cooled cookies.
Sprinkle with crushed peppermint. - Drizzle with Chocolate
Melt chocolate and drizzle lightly over frosting.
Let set 10–15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For best results, allow the butter to soften at room temperature before using.
- If the dough is too soft after chilling, you can add a little more flour.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
