Description

A delicious semolina dessert made with semolina flour, sugar, and nuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fine semolina flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil
  • ½ cup pistachios or almonds (optional, chopped)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by gathering all ingredients and tools: a saucepan, whisk, and an 8-inch square baking dish lined with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine sesame oil and semolina flour. Stir continuously for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  3. In another pot, bring water and sugar to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
  4. Slowly pour the sugar syrup into the toasted semolina while stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  5. Continue stirring on low heat until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the pan sides, about 5-8 minutes.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, smoothing it out evenly. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top if using.
  7. Let it cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Ensure to stir the mixture continuously to avoid burning.
  • Use parchment paper for easy removal of the dessert from the baking dish.
