Description

Delicious red velvet cookies that are soft and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp red food coloring (gel preferred)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  3. Beat in the egg and red food coloring until well blended.
  4. Gradually mix in flour and cocoa powder until combined.
  5. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes until slightly cracked on top.
  7. Roll warm cookies in powdered sugar and let cool completely.
