- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- 1 tsp red food coloring (gel preferred)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- Beat in the egg and red food coloring until well blended.
- Gradually mix in flour and cocoa powder until combined.
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes until slightly cracked on top.
- Roll warm cookies in powdered sugar and let cool completely.
