- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons instant dry yeast (Ensure it’s fresh for best rise.)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (Can substitute melted butter for different flavor.)
- 1 cup lukewarm water (Around 95°F for ideal results.)
- ⅔ cup warm water (For coating mixture.)
- 2 tablespoons honey (Can substitute with sugar or petimezi.)
- ½ cup sesame seeds (For coating the rings.)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, combine the ingredients for the dough and mix on low speed for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces, roll each into a log, and connect the ends to form rings.
- Place the rings on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover with a towel, and let them rest for about 30 minutes.
- Mix warm water with honey in a shallow bowl, then spread sesame seeds on a separate plate.
- Dip each ring in the honey water mixture and roll in sesame seeds, pressing gently to adhere.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (convection) or 425°F (conventional), then bake the rings for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow the baked rings to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving.
