Description

Delicious homemade sesame rings that are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (Can substitute with gluten-free flour.)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant dry yeast (Ensure it’s fresh for best rise.)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (Can substitute melted butter for different flavor.)
  • 1 cup lukewarm water (Around 95°F for ideal results.)
  • ⅔ cup warm water (For coating mixture.)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (Can substitute with sugar or petimezi.)
  • ½ cup sesame seeds (For coating the rings.)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, combine the ingredients for the dough and mix on low speed for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  2. Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces, roll each into a log, and connect the ends to form rings.
  3. Place the rings on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover with a towel, and let them rest for about 30 minutes.
  4. Mix warm water with honey in a shallow bowl, then spread sesame seeds on a separate plate.
  5. Dip each ring in the honey water mixture and roll in sesame seeds, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. Preheat oven to 400°F (convection) or 425°F (conventional), then bake the rings for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow the baked rings to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • These rings are best served fresh, but can also be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
